Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Health Center Week (NHCW), a nationwide celebration recognizing the vital role Community Health Centers play in providing accessible, high-quality, and affordable healthcare. The annual observance also raises awareness of the healthcare needs of underserved communities and advocates for the funding and policies necessary to sustain and strengthen the Community Health Center mission.
In 2026, Sun River Health celebrated National Health Center Week by hosting three community events across the regions it serves, highlighting its ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of New Yorkers. Serving approximately 250,000 patients each year, Sun River Health remains dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care while building stronger, healthier communities.
The NHCW events brought together residents, community-based organizations, and local partners for a day of connection, education, and celebration. Attendees had opportunities to connect with community organizations, access valuable health and social service information, enjoy free food from food trucks, participate in free face painting, and experience live entertainment on a community stage.
The three events took place at the following locations:
- August 8, 2026: Sun River Health Linden Boulevard, 2400 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11208
- August 15, 2026: Sun River Health Brentwood, 1869 Brentwood Road, Brentwood, NY 11717
- August 22, 2026: Sun River Health, in partnership with I AM Beacon, at South Park, Beacon, NY 12508
Through these community celebrations, Sun River Health reaffirmed the importance of bringing people together, connecting individuals and families with valuable resources, and ensuring that everyone has access to the care and support they need to thrive.
National Health Center Week serves as an important reminder that Community Health Centers are more than healthcare providers—they are trusted community partners working every day to advance health equity and improve lives. Sun River Health is proud to continue this mission and celebrate the communities it serves.
