Tylenol and pregnancy

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has highlighted new evidence suggesting that there may be a connection between taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy and an increased risk of neurological conditions like autism and ADHD in children.

Sun River Health uses practices based on the most current research available and follows clinical guidelines issued by expert women’s health organizations. No reputable studies have shown a link between Tylenol use during pregnancy and neurodevelopmental disorders in children, including autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability.

An untreated fever during pregnancy has serious risks, including miscarriage and congenital disabilities. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine have reaffirmed that Tylenol is still considered much safer and more helpful than other drugs when experiencing fever or pain during pregnancy.
