Roots in the community
The Alamo Community Center in Goshen is co-located with the Sun River Health Goshen Center and is targeted to the unique needs of farmworkers and their families in our region.
The Alamo Community Center has much to offer.
Our services include a food pantry, clothing donations, and a community room to relax, watch TV, or socialize.
Sun River Health’s outreach staff regularly visit farmworker housing to present “Salud Para Todos,” a drug and alcohol abuse awareness program. Representatives from the New York State Department of Labor are available to assist farmworkers with fair employment matters.
Weekly programs include:
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Homework assistance
- Exercise classes
- Teen pregnancy/ motherhood support group
- Y.O.L.O. (Young Outstanding Latina Organization) for teen girls
- Boy’s Council
