COVID-19 Vaccines

Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccines are available at no cost to you at all Sun River Health locations, regardless of citizenship or insurance status

  • The bivalent vaccines are authorized and recommended for adults and children who are six months or older
  • Side effects of the bivalent dose are no different than the original Pfizer vaccine
  • You can receive the COVID-19 bivalent vaccine  at the same time as other vaccines, including the flu shot

We understand that many people have questions about the vaccine. You are welcome to schedule a consultation with a Sun River Health doctor or nurse to discuss these questions if you are not ready to make a vaccine appointment. We are happy to talk about these concerns with you.

Sun River Health is also providing free COVID-19 PCR tests at all our health center sites.

Young children

Sun River Health is offering the COVID-19 bivalent vaccine to children aged six months and up. The vaccine is available at no cost to you at every Sun River Health location.

To make an appointment for your child, click here, or call 844-400-1975.

Medical experts agree that having your child vaccinated against COVID-19 is the right choice. Your child should get the COVID-19 vaccine because:

  • The vaccine boosts your child’s immune system to help prevent them from getting COVID-19, which can lead to severe lung infection, asthma, and other long-lasting symptoms (“long-COVID”) that could impact their health and wellbeing
  • It helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 at school, home, and in the community
  • Getting vaccinated helps protect your child from new COVID-19 variants

A smaller needle and a lower dose of the vaccine will be used for children under the age of 12.

If you have any questions about getting the vaccine for your child, you can also schedule a time to speak to a doctor or nurse instead of scheduling a shot.

Primary series / third dose

Sometimes, people who are immunocompromised do not build enough protection when they first get a vaccine.

Immunocompromised individuals need three doses for their primary series. This is different than a booster dose. A booster dose is given once the primary series of all three vaccines is completed.

Third doses are available 28 days after the second dose of the vaccine for anyone who:

  • Is receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection (advanced defined as CD4 <200)
  • Is in active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids (15-20mg/day of prednisone x 4 weeks or more) or other drugs that may suppress immune response If this is you, please speak with your doctor about whether you should get a booster shot or third dose of the vaccine.

The third dose should be the same type of vaccine as the first two whenever possible.

Talk to your doctor about your medical condition to determine if a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is right for you. To schedule a third dose shot, or a consultation with a Sun River Health clinician, click here, or call 844-400-1975.

When you come in to receive your third dose, be sure to bring your vaccination card.

Pregnant people with COVID-19 have an increased risk of issues with their pregnancy, including pre-term birth, stillbirth, and admission into the ICU.
